Why Sri Krishnarghya to be given? If we give Arghya on Krishna astami day or on Krishna Jayanthi day, we will get the punya equal to Samarpana of samasta bhoomandala as per Bhavishyottara purana. ಕೃಷ್ಣಾಷ್ಟಮಿ ದಿನದಿಂದ ಅರ್ಘ್ಯ ನೀಡಿದರೆ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಭೂಮಂಡಲ ದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದ ಪುಣ್ಯ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ. – ಭವಿಷ್ಯತ್ ಪುರಾಣ Sri Krishastami ಕೃಷ್ಣಾಷ್ಟಮಿ vratha is also Haridina just like Ekadashi. –

But the importance of performing one Srikrishnastami is equal to 20 crore Ekadashis. We should not leave Krishnastami, saying that we are doing Ekadashi, and similarly we must not leave Ekadashi saying, by just doing Krishnastami we will be get all ekadashi phala. So, we have to do both Krishnastami and Ekadashi Upavasa invariably. ಕೃಷ್ಣಾಷ್ಟಮಿಯಂದು ಮಾಡಿದ ಉಪವಾಸ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಕೋಟಿ ಏಕಾದಶಿ ಮಾಡಿದ ಪುಣ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮ. ಆದರೆ ಕೃಷ್ಣಾಷ್ಟಮಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಉಪವಾಸ ಮಾಡಿ ಏಕಾದಶಿಯನ್ನು ಬಿಡುವ ಹಾಗಿಲ್ಲ. ಬಿಟ್ಟರೆ ಪಾಪ ಬರುತ್ತೆ. Why we are giving more importance to Sri Krishnastami? Why not Ramanavami? Buddhajayanthi? – THERE IS NO BEDHA FOR DIFFERENT PARAMATHMA ROOPA/AVATAARA. We must not think of difference in Paramathma’s different roopa. If we think it will be navavidha dwesha on paramathma. Periodwise, Sri Krishna is nearer to Kaliyuga. Only on this day that we have to do upavasa and not on other bhagavadroopa jayanthi days. Ofcourse Buddhavatara is more nearer to us than Krishnavatara. Even though Buddhavatara is nearer to us, it was only for a short period and it was daitya mohaka roopa whereas Srikrishnavatara is Jnaana roopa. What happens if we are not observing Upavasa on Krishnastami? As per Bhavishyottara purana if we are not observing krishnastami vrata, we will become brahmarakshasa and he will born as Snake, tiger like wild animals. We will get paapa as if we are eating Maamsa if we not observing upavasa as per smruthi.
Krishnastami some informations
- Regular snaana sandhyavandana to be done
- On Krishnastami day – Brahma Yagna not to be done, Vaishwadeva, oupasana not to be done.
- Mataapitru shraddha if falls on this day, to be observed on the next day
- Full day fasting (ಉಪವಾಸ) to be done on Krishnastami day. Paarane to be done as per their Mutt sampradaya. However, on the Krishnastami day, one must do Fasting for the whole day.
- As per Vyasaraja Mutt and Sripadaraja Mutt sampradaya, paarane is being done on the next day mornng – utsavaante paarane. ಉತ್ಸವಾಂತೆ ಪಾರಣಿ
- As per Rayara Mutt and Uttaradi Mutt – they will do only after the entry of Ashtami tithi. That is why upto that time, Harivasara to be observed.
- Krishnargya to be given only after Chandrodaya
- After giving argya to Krishna, Chandrargya to be given
- Naivedya to be given to Krishna paramathma only in the midnight. Rama Naivedya, Hastodaka, Vaishwadeva, Brahmayajna NOT to be done.

Mothers of Krishna paramaatma –
Sri Krishna Paramathma had three mothers – · All the three did the tapassu to get Krishna as their children.
- Devaki became the mother by giving birth
- Yashoda became his mother by giving breast milk
- Rohini became his mother by virtue of Sri Krishna being born in Rohini Nakshatra
Krishna – Damodara – Krishna is popularly called as Damodara – ದಾಮ + ಉದರ = ದಾಮೋದರ – ದಾಮ =ಹಗ್ಗ (rope) ಉದರ = ಸೊಂಟ (waist). Krishna was a very naughty boy. He used to lot of mischievous things in front of her mother and other Gopika strees. Unable to control him, Yashoda tied Krishna to a grinding stone (ಒರಳುಕಲ್ಲು). Initially she tried to tie him with the rope, which was shorter by two inches. Again she added some more ropes, still it was short. She went on joining ropes to the rope but each it was shorter by two inches. Then she realised that Krishna, the paramathma can’t be bound by anyone. Then Krishna allowed her to tie him to the grinder stone. Then Krishna started moving in and around, the grinder also followed him as he was tied to it. Krishna pulled and drags it through the two trees, which were standing close by in Vrundavana. The two trees were Nalakuvara and Manigriva who were cursed (as they were taking bath without vastra) by Narada Maharshi to become trees . They got Moksha when Krishna pulled the two trees down using the grinding stone.
Krishna’s astamahishiyaru and their santaana : Remaining 16100 were Agniputraas born as women just to have the sannidhana and samparka of Srihari. Sri Krishna had from each of his 16108 wives 10 male and 1 female children.
