On 26.4.2012, Nandana Samvatsara Vaishaka Shukla panchami, paramapoojya Sri Satyatma Tirtha Sripadangalavaru did the pratistapane of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha devaru @ Uttaradi Mutt, Bangalore. Entire Madhwas, peetadhipathis like Sri Pejawara Sripadaru, Sri Phalimaru Sripadaru, Sri Bhandarakeri Sripadaru, Sri Madhava Tirtha Mutt Sripadaru, Sri Kaniyur Mutt Sripadaru, etc., had the darshana of Lakshmi Narasimha devaru and did the upanyasa on Narasimha devaru and praised the very concept of Narasimha pratistapane. Japa, Parayana, homa, daana, all were done as per the shastra.
But some miscreants have spread false meaning for the quotes from Vaikhanasa Smruti and tried to mislead the people that with the pratiste of Narasimha devaru at UM, the world will be under great difficulty, as it is done during Uttarayana. They have misrepresented the meaning of the following shloka :
ಮಾತೃಭೈರವವಾರಾಹನರಸಿಂಹ ತ್ರಿವಿಕ್ರಮಾ: |
ಮಹಿಷಾಸುರಹಂತ್ರೀ ಚ ಸ್ಥಾಪ್ಯಾ ವೈ ದಕ್ಷಿಣಾಯಣೇ |
मातृभैरववाराहनरसिंह त्रिविक्रमा: ।
महिषासुरहंत्री च स्थाप्या वै दक्षिणायणे ।
वै शब्दोप्यर्थे न तु दक्षिणायणॆ एवेति नियम: । पूर्ववचने दक्षिणायणे निषिद्धाया: देव प्रतिष्टाया: देव विशेषे प्रतिप्रसवमात्रात् । निर्णयसिंधु
ವೈ ಶಬ್ದೋಪ್ಯರ್ಥೇ ನ ತು ದಕ್ಷಿಣಾಯಣೆ ಏವೇತಿ ನಿಯಮ: | ಪೂರ್ವವಚನೇ ದಕ್ಷಿಣಾಯಣೇ ನಿಷಿದ್ಧಾಯಾ: ದೇವ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಟಾಯಾ: ದೇವ ವಿಶೇಷೇ ಪ್ರತಿಪ್ರಸವಮಾತ್ರಾತ್ | ನಿರ್ಣಯಸಿಂಧು
It has been translated by Sri Kidambi Narasimhacharya in Telugu as follows :
వైఖానసుడు ఇట్లా అంటాడు |
మాతా, భైరవ, వరాహ, నరసింహ, త్రివిక్రమ, మహిషాసురహంత్రి, ఈ దేవతల ప్రతిష్ట దక్షిణాయణంలో చేయాలి . వై శబ్దము కూడ అని అర్థం. దక్షిణాయణంలోనే చేయాలి అనే నియమం కాదు. పై మాటల్లో దక్షిణాయణంలో దేవ ప్రతిష్ట నిషేధించబడినడి. ఆది విశేషలదేవతల విషయంలో తిరిగి విధిచింబడినడి. నిషేదమునకు నిషేదము ప్రతిప్రసవము.
Meaning – Maata, Bhairava, Varahaa, Narasimha, Trivikrama, Mahishasurahantri devataa’s pratista to be done in DakshiNaayaNa. “vai”
shabda means “also”. There is no rule that it shall be in Dakshinayana. There is no such nishEda for pratiste in Dakshinayana.
Devata pratiste to be done in Uttarayana as per Nirnaya Sindu as quoted herebelow :
देवतारामवाप्यादि प्रतिष्टोदङ्मुखे रवौ ।
दक्षिणाशामुखे कुर्वन् न तत्फलमवाप्नुयात् ।
Devatas, udyaana, well, pratistapane to be done in Uttarayana, If done in Dakshinayana, one will not get pratistaa phala – the result of pratista. In this way, pratista in Dakshinayana is restricted generally.
To summarise – Pratistapane of any devata to be done in Uttarayana preferably. If proper muhurtha is not found in Uttarayana, it can be done in Dakshinayana. By saying – it can be done in Dakshinayana also – it means the most preferable precious time is Uttarayana only.
This being the case, some miscreants have created mess amongst the people with wrong conception, wrong preaching, wrong ideas, with prejudice which mean those people have done this with prejudice or they are not well aware of Sanskrit at all.
To add to all this one more point – NARASIMHA MADE THE AVATAARA IN UTTARAYANA ONLY.
